Convent of the Sacred Heart The James and Florence Burden House at 7 East 91st Street and the Otto and Addie Kahn House at 1 East 91st Street (and the corner of 5th Avenue) are located in the Carnegie Hill neighborhood of Manhattan. The two houses were converted to a private school for girls known as the Convent of the Sacred Heart in 1934 and remains under their ownership today. Easton Architects has prepared an Existing Conditions Assessment and Master Plan for the complex's historic fabric and infrastructure including materials, structure, building systems, finishes and tapestries. With the assistance of Ms. Easton, the Convent of the Sacred Heart has been awarded a grant from the New York State Environmental Protection Fund for the Courtyard Restoration. Additional projects include the repair and rehabilitation of the Alleyway Bridge, Roof Terrace and Tower. Both structures are local New York City Landmarks and sit within the Carnegie Hill Historic District. They are listed on the State and National Registers of Historic Places. |
